Fashion Trends 2024: Millennial Pink & Real-World Runway Looks

There has been an underlying animosity between millennials and Gen Z since the skinny jeans debate. It seems that much of what millennials loved in the 1990s has been reborn for the TikTok generation and ballet flats have become the norm again. They managed to turn millennial moments into something trendier, and cooler, and for the record, I fall directly between the two age groups. It’s important to note, however, that while Gen Z may add their stamp of approval to a trend, they’re not necessarily the ones who created it, as Fashion Month proved.

As I watched a spring/summer collection there’s a soft shade of pink sprinkled throughout the shows.  Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, and Sandy Liang showcase pink gowns, pink mini dresses, and pink bow bags. Which are all stealing the spotlight on the runway. There were soft millennial pink shades in those pieces and personally, I loved them so much.

The color revival alone may not have a major effect, additional perspectives from the New York Fashion Week could potentially enhance its significance.

Read along to learn the six biggest fashion trends that may lead to generational peace.

Top 6 Fashion Trends 2024:

Drop Waist Dresses:

Gone are the days when belting a dress to show your waistline. Rather than wasting money on a high-waisted silhouette opt for a sexier drop waist alternative. Choose the right length and steal the spotlight.

Longer dresses are usually paired with this style, which is particularly suitable for eveningwear and special occasions. To give your look a modern edge, look for dresses with an asymmetrical neckline like those from Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim.

Millennial Pink:

This particular shade of pink had a chokehold on millennials (and probably every other age group) in 2015. The color made every palette more vivid, from home decor accents to wedding color schemes to brand campaigns. However, this shade disappeared from collections in the last few years. In its place, a bright pink shade took over and is hopefully (finally) being replaced. According to designers such as Simone Rocha, Tory Burch, and Carolina Herrera, there should be pink back in our wardrobes. Spring/Summer ’24 collections indicate the shade will be heavily incorporated into formal wear-no bridesmaid is safe.

Satin Trench Coats:

Take inspiration from your grandmother’s wardrobe and revamp your outerwear rotation with a satin trench coat. It looks naturally more formal as compared to the classic canvas trench. It is more versatile and looks so classy and stylish. On the Spring/Summer ’24 runways, this style was clearly seen over dresses with heels; for a more casual look, wear it open with a white T-shirt and jeans. It gives a vintage feel and more texture and dimension to any simple outfit.

Mega Bags:

All your portable chargers, books, gum, laptops, makeup, and gym clothes, can now be kept together. There is no doubt that mega bags are going to crush all of the other handbag trends of 2024 – those Jacquemus mini bags better keep an eye out! The bigger the bag, the better, according to designers like Brandon Maxwell, Sandy Liang, and STAUD. It looks like the upgrade of the tote. It is going to be one of the most adaptable fashion trends in 2024.

Bridal Suits:

To buy a white suit you don’t have to walk down to the aisle. All sizes long, short, flowy, and customized were all welcome on the Spring/Summer 24 runways. A white suit is a must-have wardrobe essential whether it’s for winter or you are already planning for the next summer wardrobe. In the engagement and wedding season, most women prefer to wear white dresses so designers such as  Simone Rocha and Bevza lean into the bridal aesthetic this season. If you’re not getting married, wear one at least and indulge in the timeless charm of a white dress, radiating elegance and sophistication.

Bunches Of Lilac:

If you’re not happy with the arrival of millennial pink then maybe Lilac shade will steal your heart. Lilac is a color that looks good on everyone. A chunky winter sweater in this color looks inviting, while a lace summer dress looks whimsical. This shade is seasonless, so you can wear it anytime you want.
